Safe Crossing wins Blueberry Changemaker Award, Green Earth Book Award Long List and ALA Sustainability Roundtable

Safe Crossing won the Blueberry Changemaker Award, earned a spot on the list of the American Library Association (ALA) Sustainability Roundtable, and also added to the 2026 Green Earth Book Award (GEBA) Long List from the Nature Generation. (Stay Tuned! The GEBA short list comes out on Earth Day.)

It really makes my heart leap to see all these environmental education distinctions bestowed on this book. And congratulations to all the kidlit creators with books on these lists. Thanks to all the committee members who worked hard reading and bringing so many wonderful books with ecology themes and calls to action to our attention.
