Chicago Public Library Best of the Best

Thanks, Chicago Public Library! I am so amazed to see both SAFE CROSSING and Cómo decirle hola a una lombriz on Chicago Public Library’s Best of the Best list of Best Informational Books for Younger Readers of 2025. And I am filled with admiration seeing what great company of books they are joining this year!

I am so thankful to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago for my time at art school there: I studied wood cut relief printmaking, plant and animal illustration with Olivia Petrides, at the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Field Museum of Natural History, interned at the Chicago Children’s Museum, and volunteered with the Mighty Acorns – so here are all those seeds planted long ago in Chicago blossoming together! And I met my amazing and talented sweetheart Greg Cook there, and for all my Chicago peeps, thank you!

You can find SAFE CROSSING at your favorite bookseller. This helps local bookstores stay afloat and also helps more people find out about the books you love. If they are sold out of copies in the shop, they will order one for you. Or use the button below to order from the publisher:
