Shadow Puppetry and Shadow Theater

Shadow Puppetry and Shadow Theater are media that light up the imagination. Children love to cut out shapes from black paper or cereal boxes to make characters and bring stories to life! This is great with folk tales from around the world, ancient myths and legends, creation stories, fables, or original stories. In small groups, students can work together to collaborate on a production. I lead them through a series of scaffolded steps to makes sure everyone has a creative stake in the production and gets to participate in the performance. It’s so much fun!
