Kirkus Starred Review for FALL DAY, ALL DAY

After a long, cold spring and during these first warm days of early summer, it’s time to plant pumpkins. It’s a brazen venture of intrepid enterprise to tuck tiny seeds under the wet dirt with a “good luck!” – and a promise to water faithfully. It takes visionary fortune telling to look ahead to the fall in your imagination, when – against all odds – maybe some orange orbs will be discovered lurking under the some-day big leaves. Fall Day, All Day, my upcoming picture book from Rise x Penguin Workshop, doesn’t come out until August 25, 2026. But this book has already sprouted a review from Kirkus! And a starred review at that! Here is a taste:
“As the kids venture outdoors, Percival draws clear, enticing parallels between the seasonal preparations made by humans and those involving the natural world….Flora and fauna serve as inspiration: A chipmunk gathering acorns spurs the children to triumphantly harvest their own garden goodies; watching a maple tree’s leaves move in the wind, the kids ‘wiggle and dance.'”
All this portends good luck for this little book about the wonderful joys of playing outdoors in fall. Fall Day, All Day is now available for pre-order wherever your favorite books are sold.
